Up A Creek Canoe & Kayak Rental newsletter
May 2009 UAC Newsletter
Greetings, fellow paddlers! I know you've all been wondering what we've been up to here at Up a Creek since last season. Puppy, Uncle Ron and I spent the winter months doing some cold weather paddling and whitewater playboating, and planning for the 2009 season. Now we're finally starting to get into full swing and are looking forward to seeing all of you on the water again!
We have only a few floats under our belt so far this season, but looking at the next week I see we have 4 floats lined up already. Memorial Weekend is going to be big for UAC. While I don't have a full head count on our Memorial Day float just yet, let me know if you're interested in joining and we'll take new paddlers on a first-come, first-served basis.
And for those of you who already have plans for the coming holiday weekend (even though you would no doubt have more fun with us on the river), summer has just begun. Keep in touch with us via the web site, Facebook or e-mail to find out about upcoming floats on which you might want to tag along. Or find a date that works for you and give us a call. We'll gladly put together a custom float for your outing.
That's about it, I suppose. See you on the river! And remember, if you have a bad time, it's your own fault!

Up a Creek Annual Campout
Many requests for an overnight at Camp Up a Creek have prompted us to go ahead and schedule a night under the stars on Puppy's farm. This event will be an adults-only venue, complete with a bonfire (please Uncle Ron, no spare tires on the fire this time), cookout, and perhaps a movie on the UAC big screen. With any luck, we may even have time beforehand to put together a short video of this year's events, including a handful of choice photos (you know who you are). There won't be any paddling on this adventure -- just a campout without the river. But we promise a good time for all of you who attend.
There is no cost for this event, but we do need to know if you're interested in attending so we can be sure to have enough breakfast food on hand (Puppy makes a mean campfire breakfast!) Head on over to the "Contact Us" page to tell us you'll be there!
Coming soon to a river near you
Greetings, everyone! As some of you who were along on Sunday's float already know, Uncle Ron missed out on a great day on the river last weekend. And as such, he has insisted that we make up for his lost time this Saturday. At approximately 12 noon on Saturday we will be hosting the "Cuz' Uncle Ron Said So" float down the mighty Kaw. Mother Nature currently calls for sunny skies and 94-degrees with a slight breeze. So cancel those weekend plans for mowing the yard -- it can wait until Sunday -- and join us for another lazy float down the river. Just go to the web site (http://www.upacreek.biz) and click on the "Contact Us" link to let us know you're interested.
And as always, if you have a bad time, it's your own fault!

Kayaks and beavers and snakes, oh my!
Greetings, fellow paddlers! It was one hot weekend for Up a Creek with three floats down the Kaw. Just wanted to let all of you know that we finally got photos from all of our recent floats posted on the web site (http://www.upacreek.biz) so be sure to come by and check them out. We're also working on scheduling some additional floats in the coming weeks and will be updating the web site with dates and locations as we firm up our plans.
For those of you who joined us this past weekend, thank you for helping to make this one of our best paddling weekends yet this year. And for those who haven't been along yet this year... what are you waiting for?
One final thing, if any of you have photos from the floats that you'd like to share, feel free to e-mail them to me and I'll gladly add them to our photo gallery. Paddle on!
